ISO-9001

In September 2005, Microporous Products was recertified to ISO 9001:2000 from Det Norske Veritas(DNV) Certifications, Inc. for the quality system used to produce ACE-SIL® , FLEX-SIL®, CellForce® and polyethylene seperators. Click logo on right to view ISO certificate.

ISO refers to the International Organization for Standardization, founded in 1946, to develop a common set of manufacturing, trade and communication standards. While ISO publishes thousands of standards, the five documents in the ISO 9000 series (ISO 9000-1, ISO 9001, ISO 9002, ISO 9003 and ISO 9004-1) now has significant impact on the international market. The quality of products-both tangible and service-oriented-is perceived as a key element in improving world competitiveness. Since the ISO 9000 series has become the internationally recognized common language for quality, the standards are viewed as facilitating global trade and improving world economics. More than 100 countries have adopted the ISO 9000 series as a national standard, and thousands of companies worldwide have become registered to the standards.

Six Sigma Implementation

The concept of Six Sigma was introduced in the 1980s by Motorola. Designed to reduce the defects in manufactured products to only a few parts per million, Six Sigma has evolved into "a program aimed at the near-elimination of defects from every product, process and transaction." (Tomkins, 1997)
